What to See at Sombai
The Infusion Workshop
Rice spirit is infused with combinations like ginger and honey, or coffee and cardamom, then rests for two months in the infusion room before bottling — visitors can see this process up close in the workshop area of the house.
The Tasting Lounge
A relaxed, homey tasting room offers all eleven flavours alongside light local snacks, with staff explaining the story behind each — a blend of the Cambodian tradition of infusing rice wine for medicinal purposes and recipes brought from Mauritius by the founders.
The Hand-Painted Bottles
Each bottle design is hand-painted by young Cambodian artists, making the liqueurs as much a takeaway souvenir as a drink.
How to Get to Sombai
The workshop is in a traditional Khmer house roughly midway toward Wat Damnak village, a short tuk-tuk ride from central Siem Reap.
- Tuk-tuk: A few minutes from the Old Market area — any driver can find it by name
- Walking: Possible from guesthouses in the Wat Damnak area
Practical Tips

- Pace yourself across all eleven flavours — staff serve them in small measures by design
