What to See on Koh Ta Kiev

The Main Beach

A long, golden stretch facing the mainland, lined with simple eco-bungalow camps spaced well apart from one another — there’s no village strip here, just jungle, sand, and the occasional hammock.

Jungle Trails

Unmarked paths cut through the island’s interior connect the main beach to quieter coves on the far side. Bring proper shoes; this isn’t a boardwalk.

Hidden Coves & Snorkelling

Several small bays around the island have clear water and patchy coral — ask your bungalow host which cove is calmest on the day, since conditions shift with the wind.

How to Get to Koh Ta Kiev

Longtail boats leave Otres Beach (Otres 1) most mornings around 10–11:30am, run by the island’s bungalow operators — a round trip costs $10–15 and takes about an hour each way. Some operators run combined island-hopping tours that stop for snorkelling en route, with lunch included for $15–20.

Practical Tips

  • There’s no fixed schedule — confirm the morning departure time with your bungalow the day before
  • Generator power is limited to a few hours each evening; phone signal is patchy at best
  • Pack a headlamp, insect repellent, and any medication you need — there’s no pharmacy on the island
  • Bring more cash than you think you’ll need; there’s nowhere to withdraw more once you’re here

Nearby Attractions

  • Otres Beach — the mainland departure point, 1 hour away by boat
  • Ream National Park — mangroves and dolphin-spotting boat trips, near the same stretch of coast
  • Koh Rong & Koh Rong Samloem — the larger, more developed islands further offshore
