What to See at Otres Beach
Otres 1
The social end of the beach — bamboo beach bars, yoga studios, hostels, and a relaxed village atmosphere that feels a world away from Sihanoukville’s casino strip just a few kilometres north. Most island ferries depart from piers at this end.
Otres 2
Quieter and more spread out, with a handful of boutique guesthouses and fewer bars. The sand here is just as good, with noticeably more room to yourself.
Otres Market
A small night market with food stalls, set back from the beach — a low-key alternative to Sihanoukville’s restaurant scene.
How to Get to Otres Beach
Otres is a 10–15 minute tuk-tuk ride ($3–5) from Sihanoukville town or the airport. It’s also the main pier for boats to Koh Rong, Koh Rong Samloem, and Koh Ta Kiev — many travellers base themselves here for a night before or after island-hopping.
Practical Tips
- Otres 1 and Otres 2 are a 15–20 minute walk apart along the sand — flip-flops are fine, no need for a tuk-tuk
- Swimming is calm and safe most of the year; conditions roughen slightly during the May–October wet season
- This is the easiest base for day-tripping to Koh Ta Kiev without committing to an overnight stay
Nearby Attractions
- Koh Ta Kiev — off-grid island, boats depart from Otres 1 most mornings
- Ream National Park — mangroves and dolphin-spotting, a short drive south
- Koh Rong & Koh Rong Samloem — islands reachable by ferry from the Otres/Sihanoukville pier area
