What to See on Koh Totang
The Beach
A pristine stretch of white sand meeting clear, calm water — the main draw, and one best appreciated by doing very little. There is no village strip to wander; the beach itself is the destination.
Snorkelling & Kayaking
The surrounding waters are part of the wider Koh Sdach archipelago’s reef system, with decent visibility for snorkelling. A few small eco-lodges on the island rent kayaks for exploring nearby coves.
Total Disconnection
With no roads, no cars, and only minimal solar or generator electricity, Koh Totang is one of the few places left on Cambodia’s coast where digital disconnection isn’t a marketing line — it’s simply how the island works.
How to Get to Koh Totang
Reach Koh Sdach’s gateway pier at Poi Yopon first (see the Koh Sdach guide for the full route from Phnom Penh or Koh Kong town via Andoung Tuek). From Poi Yopon, arrange a boat transfer directly with your chosen eco-lodge on Koh Totang — the crossing takes around 15–20 minutes depending on which part of the archipelago you’re headed to.
Practical Tips
- Book accommodation in advance and confirm your boat pickup time — there’s no walk-up option this far out
- Bring cash, a torch or headlamp, and any supplies you might need; there are no shops on the island
- Electricity is limited to a few hours via solar or generator power
- This is a destination for slowing down, not for day-tripping — most visitors stay at least one night
Nearby Attractions
- Koh Sdach — the archipelago’s main fishing-village island and transport hub
- Botum Sakor National Park — mainland rainforest and mangrove, reachable by boat
