What to See at Tek Chhouu Waterfall
The Rapids
Tek Chhouu — also signed as Teuk Chhou — isn’t a dramatic single cascade but a long stretch of shallow rapids and rock pools, shaded by trees and lined with hammocks and simple riverside restaurants. It’s where Kampot families come on weekends: more swimming hole than tourist sight, and all the more relaxed for it.
Tada Waterfall
A 20–30 minute walk upstream from the main rapids, Tada is a smaller but genuine cascading waterfall with a deeper plunge pool — worth the extra walk if the lower rapids feel too tame.
The Riverside Zoo
A modest, fenced zoo sits beside the main rapids. It’s a minor add-on rather than a destination in itself; standards vary, so set expectations accordingly.
How to Get to Tek Chhouu Waterfall
The site is about 8km north of Kampot town.
- Tuk-tuk: Roughly $5 each way, 15 minutes from central Kampot
- Motorbike: Easy self-drive on a paved road if you’ve rented one in town
- Combine with Bokor: Many guesthouses offer a half-day loop pairing Tek Chhouu with the Bokor Mountain road
Best Time to Visit
Visit on a weekday if possible to avoid the local weekend crowds. Water levels are highest just after the wet season; by the peak of the dry season (February–April) the rapids can run noticeably lower.
Practical Information
- No entry fee for the main rapids; bring small change for food stalls and the zoo
- Bring a swimsuit and water shoes — the rocks underfoot are uneven
- Basic toilets and changing areas are available on site
- Combine with a Bokor Mountain day trip to make the most of the drive out from Kampot
Nearby Attractions
Kampot’s pepper farms, Bokor Hill Station, and the cave shrines of Phnom Kampong Trach are all within a short drive, making this an easy stop on a Kampot day-trip loop.
