What to Do at vKirirom

The Activity Menu

vKirirom functions as Kirirom National Park’s adventure base: zip line through the canopy, quad bikes and buggies on forest tracks, mountain bikes for the trail network, kayaks on the lake, volleyball, a kids’ park, and campfires under pines. The signature guided walk is the 6km round-trip trek to the Tree Top mountain viewpoint, with guide and forest ranger included.

Sleeping in the Pines

Accommodation runs the full spread — pitched tents and glamping domes to bungalows and villas — all scattered through the forest rather than stacked in a block. The plateau sits around 700m, so evenings are properly cool by Cambodian standards: the reason Kirirom was a royal retreat in the 1940s.

An Unusual Backstory

The resort operates alongside the Kirirom Institute of Technology, a Japanese-founded university whose students live and study on the same forested campus — part of what gives the place its slightly unexpected, community-campus feel.

How to Get to vKirirom

The resort is inside Kirirom National Park, Phnom Sruoch district — about 100km / 2 to 2.5 hours from Phnom Penh via National Road 4.

  • By car: Turn off NR4 at the Kirirom junction and climb the plateau road; the resort arranges transfers
  • Day trips: Feasible from Phnom Penh, but the cool evening is half the reason to come

Practical Tips

  • Weekends draw large local groups — expect karaoke energy; weekdays are far quieter
  • Book activities (especially the Tree Top trek) on arrival or ahead — guides are assigned per session
  • Bring a warm layer November–February; plateau nights surprise everyone
  • Reviews consistently praise the setting and staff over the food — plan a flexible appetite

Nearby Attractions

  • Kirirom National Park — waterfalls, pine trails and viewpoints around the resort
  • Tree Top Viewpoint — the 6km guided trek’s cliff-edge payoff
  • Chambok Community Ecotourism Site — the model village-run waterfall project at the park’s edge
