What to See at Tmor Kral
The Stone Carpet
Rather than one dramatic plunge, Tmor Kral spreads a mountain stream wide across smooth bedrock — shallow channels, small chutes and pools over stone that’s comfortable to sit, picnic and paddle on. Families claim patches of rock for the day; the water stays cold even in the hot season.
The Ecotourism Community
The Thmor Kral Waterfall Ecotourism Community, established in 2015 with 73 member families, runs the site: they’ve improved the access road, built rentable kiosks and shelters, and keep the area maintained. Fees and food purchases go directly to those households.
Fruit Country
The surrounding Chieb commune is orchard country — depending on season, stalls sell mangoes, bananas and other fruit grown within sight of where you’re swimming.
How to Get to Tmor Kral
The falls are in Koh Ktom village, Chieb commune, Tuek Phos district — roughly 60km from Kampong Chhnang town.
- By car or moto: Sealed roads most of the way, rougher final stretch; manageable outside heavy rains
- From Phnom Penh: Around 2.5–3 hours; realistic as a long day trip, better combined with an overnight at a Tuek Phos campsite
Practical Tips
- Weekends and Khmer holidays get busy with local picnickers — arrive early for the best rock real estate
- Rent a kiosk if you’re staying for lunch; bring cash in small notes
- The rock is slick where wet and algae-covered in places — walk carefully, especially with children
- Flow drops significantly late in the dry season
