What to See at Bongkorng Roneab
The Falls
Bongkorng Roneab drops its stream through tiers of rock into pools deep enough for a proper soak after the rains. Forest keeps the site shaded and cool, and weekday visitors will often find nobody there at all. Facilities are minimal — this is the least developed of the Tuek Phos falls, and feels it, in the best way.
The Tuek Phos Loop
The waterfall sits between Tmor Kral and the district’s campsites, making it a natural middle stop on a day looping Kampong Chhnang’s western foothills: falls in the morning, farm or orchard stop mid-afternoon, campsite sunset if you’re staying over.
How to Get to Bongkorng Roneab
The falls are in Tuek Phos district’s hill country, on unsealed local roads.
- By moto or high-clearance vehicle: Follow the map link; expect a rough final stretch, slower going in the rains
- Local guidance helps: Ask at your guesthouse in Kampong Chhnang town or at Merl Pkay/Mountain View camping — locals know current road and water conditions
Practical Tips
- Check seasonal flow before making the drive — the falls can be modest by March–May
- Self-sufficiency rules: water, snacks, first-aid basics, offline maps
- Rocks are slippery when wet; enter pools carefully and never dive
- Leave no trace — the site has no cleanup crew but the villagers themselves
